News

Wow time has flown by! So much has happened but not much has happened...or at least nothing worthy of blogging about. All of our time is devoted to Abram so as usual this is all I have to blog about. Abram is getting so big and my time is flying by with him. He is almost 8 1/2 mo. old and doing new things every day. No teeth yet nor are we crawling. I will say this though, he sure can scoot around and resembles a wet little snake in the bath tub with the way he slithers back and forth on his tummy! I feel like he should be doing some stuff already but I know our time is coming and I am not going to compare at all. All I will say is we have the best baby in the world. He is so good and rarely cries. He is such a momma's boy too and I'm loving it!!

On to other news. Abram celebrated his 1st Halloween. I purchased an outfit off of Ebay but then we changed our mind. This is the costume he was going to wear.

Yep, he was going to be a Junior Mint. * Outfits look bigger hanging from a bed** Bradley and I decided that he couldnt be a Jr. Mint cause of some things we have been going through.

Things we have been going through...Abram is now having to wear a helmet to correct his "flat head".  The helmet will reshape his skull. We noticed a pretty good size knot on one side of his head when he was little and had it checked. CAT Scan came back great but pediatrician mentioned that he had plagiocephaly and this is why he has a knot. Anyways we watched it for a few months and then the dr told us we needed to see a dr in Shreveport.  The dr. in Shreveport uses a company based out of Dallas. So Bradley and I have had to go to Dallas for the past few weekends.  Hopefully, we will only have to come to Dallas every 3 weeks instead of 1- 2 weeks like most other ppl that live near the area.

So without further a do...here is Abram in his "new" Halloween outfit.

We went to a friend of mine who I teach with for Halloween. Many of you know Brad and Brooke Martin. I absolutely love Brooke and my job would be boring without her. She is so funny and always keeps me laughing.

This is Brooke's little girl. I loved her costume. She came up with it all by herself.  A. was so happy to wear it , she just couldn't bend over/down very well to get the candy.

The 1st night with the helmet was awful but now it does not seem to bother him. He has to wear it for 23 hrs a day and hopefully will only have to wear it for 3 or 4 months.  I thought he was  so stinkin cute before now I think he is adorable.

Busy times

Whew...have things been rough for us lately. It's not as easy to blog like it used to be.  Gone are the days where Bradley and I would go out on a date, there wouldn't be a single stitch of laundry, and I could run my dishwasher maybe once or twice a week. Boy do I also miss just sittin by myself and watching TV.  Now don't you worry, I still watch plenty of TV....we just DVR it all now.

So what's been going on with us?

Well Bradley and I started a young couples class at our church. Bradley does a great job teaching but it sure does seem to take a lot of his time. Which I guess is not a bad thing!!  We have had a good turn out and praise God for ALWAYS PROVIDING AND BEING SO GOOD TO US!!

Abram has been sick again!! I could make this story really long but I will try and make it brief.  Abram has had "squirty pants" LOL for about a week and a half. He got his shots 2 Wednesdays ago, did not run fever that night, and then all of a sudden that Thursday night he had a high grade of fever. When I say high, I mean high or atleast Bradley and I thought it was high. It was 103.5 and we had the hardest time getting it to go down. Friday morning...still running 103.5. So I decided, against Bradley's wishes to take him to the dr. When we got there, the nurse checked his temp and it was 104.8. WOW!! Come to find out, to dr.'s thats not that high and the final outcome is just a fever virus.  We get told to give tons of Pedialyte and stop formula till fever breaks.  Monday his fever finally stops.  Well fever stops but "squirty pants" does not. We go a few more days of squirty pants and then despite Bradley wish for me not to go back to the dr.....I go anyways!!! He's my baby....what else was I gonna do?  We get there and find out my pediatrician is out so we have to see this other dr.  Great day, this is all I need. I'm afraid he is just gonna tell me I'm being a hypochondriac.  Let me tell you, it was the complete opposite.

I had to save a "squirty diaper" for them to test. The dr. proceeds to tell me that it is either rotovirus or get this ....salmonella poisoning. He said that they have had a few reported cases already of salmonella and they think it is due to a bad batch of formula. How in the world does salmonella get in formula more or less infants?  Well, the rotovirus test came back negative. What a relief!!!! Then yesterday, the nurse calls and says "Kristin, I just wanted to let you know that the salmonella test came back positive, this is whats been causing the "squirty pants" and possibly fever for the past week and a half."  WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!  SALMONELLA !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have racked my brain as to how he could have gotten this!!! LOL I have been out of chicken for about a month so honest to goodness we have not cooked anything with chicken in a month. It does however make me feel a little better knowing that there have been other cases of this and that its not something Bradley and I did. I can honestly say I m done crying about it. When theres something wrong with ur child but you just dont know what it is, it makes you very sad.  Hopefully this antibiotic will work and he can get some kind of relief!!  I know I am finally relieved to know that there is and was something truly wrong with his tummy. This definitely will be going down in his baby book.  7 months----gets salmonella poisoning!!!

I will leave you with a  few pictures that Bradley and Bradley's cousin took.

It has started

That time of the year has started already and I'm not so much of a fan of it. I know, I'm probably the only female out there that feels this way. The TV gets taken and the computer gets hogged by make believe teams. You guessed it, I'm talking about football season! Now don't get me wrong I like to watch college football and have even been known to attend a pro game. I however do not like to watch game after game all in one day!! I especially do not like this whole fantasy football stuff.

Abram is going on his 2nd week of being sick and through 1 round of antibiotics already. This lack of sleep is killing me. Until he gets better, it's  in our bed he goes!!

Something's wrong!

So Gustav has been gone for awhile and the evacuees headed out a day or so ago but I'm still a little upset.  I'm gonna have to be nice writing this because I really could go off.  Sweet Jesus please forgive me for what I'm about to say.

There were some evacuees that were staying in Bastrop.  Now this is all being reported on TV, I'm not making any of this up. These "evacuees" were on the news moaning and groaning about how mistreated they had been.  Now I can understand about not having a bath in 3 days but c'mon seriously how in the world can anyone provide 2,000 + showers and toilets. I only know of 2 places where they could.....prison or a university.  (No comment about the prison) The news stated that they went to the local high school but "some people" destroyed the shower stalls and left things a mess. It was also stated that people were going to the bathroom on the floor and in the trash cans. Who in the world would do that, anyways that's a different story.  This isn't why I'm upset!! Getting to the real reason.

These evacuees took pictures of the facilities blaring them on tv and screaming.... "I thought we was goin to a hotel!" "I would've never left home to come to these conditions" I truly don't understand their mentality. You try to help people and they don't like the way you help or how you help. In my opinion, I feel that overall we ,meaning LA, did a much better job for preparing for Gustav than Katrina/Rita. Now don't get me wrong there is still room for improvement.....but don't gripe and complain when you're here for free getting carted all around town for free and eating for free. Last but not least, Bastrop police officers were having to search each evacuee as they were coming and going out of this particular facility. Now a huge applause to those officers for trying to protect each evacuee. There were stories and rumors of rapes, molesting's, drugs, weapons, etc during Katrina in all different places.  With that being said, these evacuees were angry that they were being searched each time they went out for a smoke break or whatever the case may be. One evacuee did not want to be searched b/c he just left and the officer was supposed to recognize and remember him. Well some of the evacuees said the police officers took this man and beat him behind a building. Ok I need to stop, I'm starting to feel bad for the way I'm speaking.

One last thing, why would you let your children play in the flood waters around here...do they really want to know what that water really is. Not to mention they killed an 8 1/2 ft alligator off of 165.

Really this is the last thing!!!!  I sure  hope McCain/Palin win.  I'm a little nervous if Obama wins....he sounds a little out there to me. I'm sure there are some crazy Republicans out there but to me the democrats are making a bad name for themselves. It seems as if the democrats are the ones stirring crap up....a protest, screaming and holding up signs at the RNC, and slamming Palin's family. Play nice and that means everyone!!!!
